American Wins Custom Bike Building World Championship

Source: Dealernews

Wisconsin dealer and motorcycle engineer Dave Cook took the World Championship title at this year’s Official World Championship of Custom Bike Building. This marks the first time an American has won the championship.

Cook, of Milwaukee’s Cook Custom Choppers, edged out 82 other custom motorcycle entries from around the world with his handcrafted “Rambler” bike. He was voted winner by fellow competitors.

"This is a dream come true,” Cook said immediately after winning.

Cook has won first place among Americans and fourth place in the world competition in 2007 and 2008. The competition was held at the Sturgis Rally’s Champions Park.

"I have dedicated the best part of three years to trying to win the World Championship, and finally I have achieved the ultimate recognition of my fellow professionals. It is very humbling,” Cook said in a press release.

Second place also went to an American, Kris Krome, of Freeland, Mich. Visit www.amdchampionship.com for a list of winners and more information about the contest.
