| Metzeler Hosts 5th Annual Custom Bike Contest in Sturgis Publish date: Aug 29, 2007 This year's contest featured some of the top builders in the country and a platoon of one-of-a-kind, Metzeler-equipped, custom V-twin creations, all vying for prizes. Hundreds of fans, riders and fellow builders turned out to check out the bikes, cast their votes for the People's Choice Award and mix and mingle with celebrity guests. The Seminole Hard Rock wowed attendees with its Celebrity Bike Tour while industry icons Eddie Trotta, Rick Fairless, Orange County Choppers and Indian Larry Legacy joined the Metzeler girls to greet fans and sign autographs throughout the day. OCC also emceed the consumer launch of its limited edition production bike line, with Paul Sr. and Junior unveiling and discussing the bikes in front of an enthusiastic crowd. Amateur and professional builders competed in the Consumer Class (Stages 1 and 2), Stage 3, Custom Builder/Custom Chopper and Bobber/Old School categories. Best of Show winner was Greg Carter of Vicious Cycles. Carter will receive an all-expense paid trip to Metzeler's headquarters in Germany with American Iron editor Chris Maida and will also be the subject of a future American Iron feature story. In addition, he netted a spot in the upcoming Metzeler ad and poster series, a seat at the Annual Metzeler Round Table in Cincinnati and a once-in-a-lifetime apprenticeship with Eddie Trotta of Fort Lauderdale?s Thunder Cycle Design. Class winners received apparel, hardware and select custom parts from the industry's top manufacturers and Metzeler tires.
